Launch Time
OK, so we launched WWOFFD. For you techies out there, there are some interesting bits that went into the development of this site. If you want to know more about this site, read on.
This site is built on a new open source CMS called aliro. I picked aliro because its a great environment to work on, and Martin Brampton, the chief architect / inventor of aliro was nice enough work with me through this process.
Aliro was a fork of Mambo, where Martin was a major contributor. Aliro strives to move beyond the limitations of mambo and fully embrace all the functionality that php5 has to offer. Since a large number of people are familiar with mambo (and its other fork, Joomla) developers should have an easy time building for aliro.
This site showcases three new components, a public wall application, a blog component, and a simpletext application. The wall application supports threaded commentary via the disqus commenting system as well as spam filtering on the wall posts with an integrated defensio plugin. The blog component also utilizes disqus to support post comments. Simpletext is less flashy, but just as important - supporting simple text block generation and placement wherever the template blocks are.
If you want to learn more about aliro and its capabilities, jump over to aliro to learn more about this capable CMS platform.

What is this all about?
Our nation's independence movement was inspired by the Patrick Henry assertion that "taxation without representation constituted tyranny". We had no vote or say in King George's England on tax policy, trade policy, or tariffs.
Today, we face a different threat - one in our nations capital and leadership. Many believe that recent economic events have forced US citizens into accepting government oversight and control which we never agreed to.
Which begs the question: What Would Our Founding Fathers Do?
